Care for Your Eyewear
Don’t let those new shades get wrecked after the first day wearing them at
the beach, game day, poolside or whatever other sunny day craziness
you’ve got yourself into. With proper care, eyewear can last far longer
following these tips:
Cleaning
- Don’t clean with window cleaner! - If you use the frames daily, you
should be rinsing them daily with warm water.
Do your best Italian impression gently rubbing the lenses with your thumb
and finger tips like-a-this 🤌
- A small amount of lotion-free, non-abrasive soap can be used when
needed. Specialty eyeglass lens cleaning sprays may work as well.
- Don’t dry with your shirt or paper towels! Most eyewear brands
include a cleaning cloth - best if it’s microfiber. Basically something
lint free that wont scratch.
Storage
- Don’t store them in a hot car on the dashboard! This goes especially
for acetate frames which can expand/contract with changing
temperatures resulting in warped or crooked temple arms. Extreme
heat can also damage some coatings and treatments, especially
models with plastic lenses.
- Ideally you’re keeping them in the storage pouch or case when not in
use, however, when temporarily placing down on a table or surface,
place either folded lens up or open and upside down - right side up
can easily be hooked, flung and/or dropped or tipped causing lenses
to face down risking scratches.
Now that you’re equipped with how to care for your new shades, you can
expect them to last longer while looking great!
